A Message from the Founder

I grew up during the sugar free era. My mom, a type 1 diabetic mostly purchased sugar free treats for the family growing up. Like any kid, I loved sweets, especially ice cream, but those types of treats at home were often chalked full of artificial ingredients and tasted terrible. I felt like there had to be something better out there.

Back in 2001, I purchased a commercial ice cream machine and started my journey in my garage. I had no clue how it was going to turn out along with everyone telling me it was not possible. After many failed attempts, but too stubborn and determined to give up, I finally started to crack the nut and ARCTIC ZERO was born. I had created a protein shake in ice cream form that was not getting spit out by my friends that were brave enough to try.

In 2009, ARCTIC ZERO launched and was wildly successful. It was apparent that I had created something never seen before and that people other than just me had wanted. From there things moved quickly, and I am not sure that I was prepared for the rodeo ahead. I was on the forefront of a huge natural food movement and had created a category within a category. Before I knew it ARCTIC ZERO was everywhere and it was both vindicating and overwhelming.

Now older and raising three young kids, I find myself looking back at the beginning of this journey and why I first created something better. Today the category I helped create is almost unrecognizable. I am surprised by the products in the category that are calling themselves “better for you”. Most products in the category now have sugar alcohols and GMO’s that I would never feed to my children let alone anyone else’s!

With technology in food moving at such a rapid pace, it is more important than ever to stand behind brands that you know and trust. Our products are and will remain, free from GMO’s, artificial ingredients and sugar alcohols. My kids are the first to try my new flavors and concepts. For me, research on clean ingredients and listening to our customers is priority. I will always push the limits on what’s possible to create in the “better for you” category. I am excited to continue to evolve as my most recent creation is composed of a plant-based faba bean protein.
